i agree but ultimately let it slide because i think that’s just part of the overall vision the author had. it has a storybook-like style in both art and writing, almost innocent(?) in its extreme vulgarity. i’m not a fan of the abuse of shock value either, but i think in this case it’s integral to this work’s strange charm.
My opinions on this are super mixed. On one hand I found the exploration of the main characters psyche very interesting and thought that it was a good portrayal of how many actual serial killers were like. I loved the religious references as well. On the other hand, I think a lot of it was unnecessarily explicit or over the top. It seemed like a lot of shock value in order to disgust readers.
