I think if the author wants one of the leads to have melanin, it's normally the ml. And if there's a female character portrayed as a poc, her skin color is associated to "being one of the savages" so you're right, we do need more diversity. Although there's a secondary character in Doctor Elise who's a melanin queen and she does have a significant role. But as of right now I can't think of a single romance webtoon where the FL is dark skinned. I'm open to recs if anyone has any.
i’m not sure why this just popped into my mind but i just thought that i haven’t actually read a similar story where the fl is isn’t ‘white’ or where the main characters/couple have hair textures other than straight or curly. i'm sure these stories exist somewhere but it’s clear that there’s still a lack of diversity in this genre and/or they’re just not as popularized. if anyone knows some of the stories like what i’m referring to, i’d appreciate a recommendation. thanks in advance.
