THATS actually normal tho(depending on the culture ofc) bc you were meeting each other and its a form of greeting(idk if it made sense) but its totally different to just go up to someone in the middle of the street and kiss them before you even introduce yourself yk

oh greeting too! like in both cheeks and it can be twice ou three times, it depens of the regions! we call it « la bise », its like our commun greeting :) is it the same in brazil??

yesss!!! its either one or two kisses (idk if it can get to three) but it depends on the regions too! in mine its not common at all so its very uncomfy to me i dont think we have an specific name for it either but here we call it "beijinho"

In my country particularly in rural areas (not cities) it is a sign of respect towards more elderly people or if you're a child towards adults. When I moved to another city I greeted the mom of a friend I used to study with this way both when I stepped in and when I leaved her house and with a little laugh she noted that this kind of thing was not a custom there. It also a greeting and a sign of respect in mafia households to the point that if you don't do it for particular ceremonies you're risking a lot because it means you're actually opposing and disrespecting the person you refused/ignored.

thats actually pretty cool! all i knew is that it is common to do it as a greeting in a lot of countries, including mine, but since in my region its not common at all i havent even seen anyone greeting someone this way (if you do it here, people will think youre weird)

ooh its funny how every country has its own greeting but with similarities! france is really famous for its greeting and its so common that i get use to it but i can totally understand the uncomfort! and « beijinho » is such a nice word, portuguese is such a pretty language i wish i can learn it somedays!
