    Bro chill this is a culture thing so when it gets translated to English that would be the closest formal speech they could use. It's like when they say Hyung or oppa to guys, it's direct translation is brother but it's gross to call your boyfriend "brother". It's a type of endearment or in this case a level of respect/ hierarchy.
