I can assure you, they absolutely can during pregnancy.
I am pregnant, so at least from my experience they don't that early into pregnancy. I only started craving stuff in the middle of my second semester.
Keep in mind that every pregnancy is different.
Cravings don't quite work like that but sure I'll eat this up xd
