I'm sorry but they are spies and murderers who are out to kill each other. Yes, each other. And one of them does not feel sympathy for killing people. One of them is a big psychopath. This is FAR from your normal story. FAR from happy flower and sunshine story. This is the russian mafia and with drugs trafficing and corruption. How did you not expect sa. How is it darker than the rest of the story?

People need to understand sex is also a plot device just like murder. Murder is wrong but it is used to tell a story, same with sex. It is telling the story of zenya and taekjoo. And i'm heavily sure there were warnings of this. If rape/murder/assault/gore is unbearing to read then you should refrain from reading such things because it is not for people with sesitive heart. It can cause trauma and reawaken previous trauma. So better stay away.

Finally! Someone who finally understands that not all BLs are gonna be all about fairies and rainbow romance fairytale! Authors can do whatever the hell they want with their stories, it's theirs to write anything they want to put in it. They tend to do this for more thrills, actions and out of the norms. This is the type I need every once in a while to avoid getting diabetes from those sweet ones. Their good but I need toxicity every once in a while too (人*´∀`)。*゚+

I agree. Ik people are gonna say that the story is meant to be dark since it involves the mafia, but I’m like 99% sure that r-pe was added bc of how romanticized it is in the yaoi genre. If it was any other genre, I’m sure they either wouldn’t have shown the scene (maybe hinted at it), or they wouldn’t have had a r-pe scene at all.

I see where your coming, I’m just judging from what I commonly see on media, rape is so mainstream in yaoi and mostly I just see is that it’s just used for fetishes or kinks.

I get what what you’re saying with it being used as a plot device but repetitively rape is just used for kinks, just the same iterations in so many stories. I wouldn’t say it’s darker then the rest of the story but more so less necessary I guess? I just don’t see the real value it adds to the overall story. Just my personal view on it, enjoy what you want to enjoy

I don’t know where the story is going or what their dynamic will be about so I have no idea if the rape actually adds to the plot, adds character development or has any real reason for being there so my bad if it’s actually relevant

exactly! most of the time it adds no real substance to the story at all and is purely added for the sake of fetishes. Most people take it at face value and don’t understand why the rape was added in the first place just because it coincides with the dark genre.

Exactly. Rape is never good when it is romanticised. Like you'll see random college romance yaoi and it would involve rape. Some office yaoi and it'll involve rape, like at that point it is not a plot device it's just author's rape fetish. And it'a totally fine to show dislike and show your opinion. It's just rape in stories like THIS one is just blends in. It's spies versues spies . It will take a long time until they actually fall in love. Right now it just adds to all the dark themes and it's inevitable that even darker things could happen that aren't necessary. And at some instances, like this one, also affects the story. (Spoiler) after being treated like this taekjoo was so angry that he refused to end his mission even after official notice and return to Korea. He eventually blew off anastasia to take revenge against Zhenya.

Yep! R@pe should never be used as a device to strengthen a plot (unless it’s handled well and clearly showcases the after effects of such trauma). And let’s be real, the Mc of codename Anastasia is probably gonna walk that shi off which is highly inaccurate. People defending it is proof of desensitization from SA in yaoi.
