instead of a real dragon i believe he has the power of a dragon, and i believe the old king came to seek the current emperor for help to be atil's guardian until he could come age and ascend the throne— until then, the current emperor would disguise himself as the old king's brother @ atil's paternal uncle who is eligible to succeed the throne

the royal family is said to be descendants of dragons and Atil's father sought out their ancestor (which i assume is a dragon) in the desert and posed him as a secret sibling that only went public recently. So they're very distantly related but not immediate of kin.
Spoiler- He is a real dragon and the royal family's ancestor so of course, he's not the previous emperor's sibling :)

Wait so I reread this and I'm confused. Is the emperor a dragon? Like a real dragon? So, he's not really related to the crown prince? Because in a panel in Ch. 50 the old king (Atil's fathe), asked for the help of his ancestor, the dragon. They also kept saying that the cutrent emperor's ancestry was vague, soooo I'm confused if he's really Atil's blood uncle.
