It's okay but,

I've never liked when there's so many dudes around one girl. I mean, no one was interested in Mei and suddenly when she falls in love everyone wants her... -_- Like in every shoujo manga. Unneeded drama.

I wouldn't say that EVERYONE wants her. There was only one other person (Kai) who actually fell in love with her besides Yamato.

And even though Mei was still very cute in the beginning, her confidence in herself made her more attractive. Her distrust in friends created a wall towards other people thus making her unapproachable. You actually see her become happier and more sociable throughout the story. Characters in the story are more attracted to her personality and compassion on a FRIENDLY level, rather than a romantic level.

I really like Mei as the heroine, she actually GROWS throughout the manga and impacts others while doing so. So, I wouldn't say it's like every shoujo manga. It's more slice of life shoujo.
