i am so utterly in love with the mangaka's art, but this story was just handled so fucking poorly. yes, zebb and rain/theia's relationship is cute, and it's nice knowing that things ended on a happy note, but the way in which this story was handled––it kinda felt like everything was tossed into a bingo spinner, vigorously spun around and whenever something came out, i had to quickly scramble around to catch it––and before i've even caught it, another thing comes out of the spinner and i'm there struggling like ????? honestly, despite how cute this was, it wasn't my cup of tea. a little dissapointing considering that i do adore this mangaka.

yes, i did read the notes, but it doesn't change the fact that the storyline is rushed. i'm not shitting on the mangaka herself––i love her art and all her other manga, and i'm fully aware that neo arcadia isn't her own story, but i'm only saying that from someone who read neo arcadia only because it is drawn by norikazu (whom i adore), i'm disappointed. perhaps i should have worded my thoughts in such a way that didn't make it seem as though i'm blaming it all on norikazu.

and no, i haven't read the original light novel and seeing as norikazu remained faithful to the storyline, then perhaps it's rushed, but i can't say so for sure. it might be one of those "the anime isn't great, but the original manga's much better!" and in this case, "the manga isn't great, but the light novel's much better!". either way, i can't say so for sure. i am fully aware that this is not norikazu's story and she's only drawing it from a light novel, but it doesn't change the fact that the while the art is fantastic, the plot isn't.
