Oh, just in case people didnt know, Lions would lose to Tigers in probably 90 - 95% of the time when they fight solo. This was a question that even the Romans were interested in, so they put two up in the Gladiator arena to fight as a show quite a few times. IIRC, some rich guy did this in recent times before crazy laws, and he put up bets to make the show more profitable, but he lost because he bet on the Lion.

I heard otherwise because lions hunt often due to large prides and train if you will whereas tiger are loners and don't need to hunt as often plus this means that lions are also more cunning to capture prey, it was in a documentary about what if two predators ever met using behavior tests and physical capabilities and more (some match ups were the bull shark and a hippo) they are about even but like I said the experienced fighter won

Um, you do know that the male lions of prides are like pimps right? They knock up the females and then send them out to do the hunting. The females are the ones getting most of the "training"

and yet the lioness cant beat a male lion, why do u think that is?

Well it is not experience, it is a difference in physique. And also, the females are following the male out of instinct, which would hold them back from really ever going at the alpha at full strength

with all due respect that was sarcasm since it was obvious that in every pride their is a dominant male and females do the hunting. but people forget that not every male is born with his own pride, like wolves they invade territory and fight other males for females as well as land and die or are banished from the process also this could happen at a young age (their father who was the leader was killed, and no this does not always mean death to the youngster if he leaves early) which means they are constantly looking for a pride of their own from a young age by fighting other male lions (this takes years)

I'm not gonna lie, somehow even after watching all those documentaries on animal planet, I completely forget about the lions that get kicked out of their pride because there can only be one male. Sorry bro, you're right!... I just got schooled '-_-)

They probably also put a male lion in. The lionesses do all the work. the males usually just eat and babysit.

Actually that is an incorrect assumption.

Anyone who ever studied anthropology would bet on the tiger. Bite strength, body size, muscle strength and endurance all point to the tiger. On top of that, tigers are known to be smarter, more agile and hunt strategically. They have taken down animals like full-grown crocodiles, gaur and bears.
Another thing that is very significant is that tigers have more muscles in their upper bodies. they can stand up, climb and swim incredibly well due to this. and while lions hunt to eat, tigers can kill out of 'vengeance''. It sounds incredible but it has been proven by a somewhat credible source.
don't always believe what you watch. i saw a documentary that said rhesus macaques where named after the place they originate from.

Actually that happens. Defending the tribe is often done by females too. If the parenting instincts came along fine, they have to go against the invader or else their cubs will be killed. there are prides with female leaders. One even grew a very, very dark mane.

i can attest that male lions are indeed lazy fucks (well, most of them). Females have more endurance and can hunt longer than males.

Another wrong assumption. Lion prides have no alpha. This concept was first introduced whilest watching CAPTIVE wolves. the captivity fucks up their normal behavior. usually, what was first mislabeled as ''alpha''pair, where just the parents. in captivity, young wolves cant split from their packs and thus try to mate in the pack they were born in (for example) a.k.a kill their parents or owners (why u shouldnt have wolves as pets). So pack hierarchies do not exist. Alpha males dont exist, betas not omegas are real.

there's also the difference of the place of origin. Lions originate from the plains, wide open spaces that afforded them clear path for the hunt. Tigers are from jungles, where ther are thick shrubs and not easy to walk through. thus they more agile and cunning when hunting.

we know that that's why in one of the comments (and my own comment) they were brought together in an arena or a data analysis computer to determine the winner
the documentary i watched used analysis to determine a winner plus a scenario

if anyone is still reading this the final verdict is this!!! both of them can kill the other its no different than saying if 2 similar men were to fight who would win, the other is not superior to the other but 1 may win and the loser could win tomorrow
