i too didnt like how this manga started. Really, yaoi should just erase the rape trope already. Anyway it's not a "fond" memory for maya. Were you reading the recent chapters? Maya reflected and felt real guilty about that. And it's good that there was a chapter like that, unlike the other mangas that just goes on like the rape never happened.
I like how their relationship is now. They're just full of love and understanding. (and sex, like, ok, children)
yeah, I decided awhile back that i was just going to pretend the story began with the second volume. They make a sweet couple; the story just would've been better with a different start.
I'm a little conflicted on the latest chapters, to be honest. On one hand, I'm super glad they gave Maya the character growth to realize what he did was wrong and apologize. On the other, there is no way I can believe that anyone who had been through what Nemu had would just go, "It was a long time ago, now let me give you a blowjob!", and that they would completely brush off the apology. It feels like it's trivializing what should have been a hugely traumatic experience. But, when is that new in this genre. (And it's 2 in the morning here and I'm overthinking this.)
I agree with you. But I think maybe the the way their relationship continued after what happened, was maybe the thing that made Nemu not care so much? Though I'm not trying to justify what happened, Im totally against the whole seme rapes uke and now their dating thing. But I'm supper glad that they've addressed it and Nemu (somehow) has moved passed it all.
Even though at this point I'm willing to accept what this manga turned into, and I've quite liked the most recent chapters, suspension of disbelief is so gone when, you know, one party is talking about his fond memories of RAPING his now-boyfriend...
