Learning how to use a gun or self defence isn't going to take away much....depends on what he shoots @Anonymous

I agree. Learning some basic gun safety and gaining a little skill isn't a bad idea. It doesn't make him a gangster.

But aren't a lot of defensive arts rooted in Shintoism? The tall guy talked a lot of Shinto type principals with Aki. Asking because I have only a passing knowledge of Shintoism, but it didn't seem off for me that a Shinto priest would teach defensive arts.

I have a friend who is really into martial arts (mostly Aikido). Martial arts are linked to both Buddist priests and local religions such as Shintoism. Aikido in particular was developed as a way to defend oneself and others without injuring the attacker (much). Gums are not a part of traditional martial arts, but the way of the gum may be like that of the bow and arrow--I mean, it's not the tool, it's the person using it and why they do what they do.

There are places like the Katori shrine whose kami (spirit), Futsunishu (I had to google that), is the spirit of swords. Prof Wikipedia says that Shinto priest wear a sword to honor him (at least in this shrine. I got the impression that Shintoism is in harmony with nature--but real nature, not the Disney version.

LOL I swear it looked like "guns" and not "gums" before I posted it.

but it realy makes me sad that akihito is far how he used to be ! or he wasn't from the start? he covered asami bad business or he was too small afront the biggest organisation? asami has politicians in his hand and all power that he need! perhaps it's vaine to try to dethrone asami, he control eveything! even mitarai photos weren't published coz asami was in it, and then he tried to help him investigated the source of the link and then he shoot to cover asami in the roof throught it was instinctively to save his lover! sakazaki was right when he said that akihito has been infedted !!! the last scan make me understand that akihito life will never be the same ! if he continued to live with asami ! it's just the begining ! the futur may be worst. akihito is drown in asami dark world! too sad for me.

Martial arts like Aikido are also linked to the Japanese police, which is really cool (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Like every aspiring officer has to know either Judo or Kendo, with the option of studying other arts such as Aikido. They also have their own kind of martial art, which is the taiho-jutsu (arrest-technique).

    Just trivia I thought was cool ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I read the chapter via Google translate, so I may be way off, but the tall guy did a lot of taking about nature and cleansing thoughts that made me think Shinto, and he kind of seems to give in reluctantly to teaching Aki at the end.

Gums, yes, not really effective as weapons, anyway.

If he's just strictly protecting Asami, I'm okay with it. Him going after Sudou was, I think, out of jealousy and a misguided need to prove himself as important to Asami. I hope he learned a lesson there.

It is cool. I'll bey they have fewer accidental shootings than the US police (though I think that just about every other country does).

But that fact that martial arts are commonly used by "good' guys is one reason I don't think it's bad for Aki to maybe train.

Well, they have nearly eradicated gun violence nationwide. Responding by trying to de-escalate (through martial arts) rather than by pulling more guns up sure helps. Apparently their police resorts to shooting about 5 times a year.

Instead they use futon and roll up the people (violent or drunk) in order to carry them back to the police station to calm them down ROFL.

Also, as a society generally there's the sentiment since WW2 that war is horrible and that they can never have that again, so gun laws stay strict and no one wants to relax them.

Back to Akihito, yeah maybe, though I wonder if he has the time for it.

Time for a real person to learn? I doubt it. But he's a ninja. I mean, yaoi logic. He's had months--he knows it all.
