The fact that she understood she was part of the problem honestly highlights how terrible the ML was. She literally lived the prototype sheltered life of a rich girl, but the moment she actually saw a bit of the reality of the world, she quickly understood how wrong things were. She was capable of true empathy unlike her father. Had the ML just shared his true story with her and opened up even mildly, she likely would have quickly grasped the horror of the world she lived in and they could have avoided all the trauma. But he quickly painted her as a villain and manipulated her.
She is a part of the problem honestly by default. But she isn’t the problem or even responsible for it. She has no hand in how her society works or the cause of war. She’s literally a woman - with literally no rights or say over the direction of her own life. The ML painted her as this imaginary saint and was shocked when she turned out to be a normal person with flaws and then he punished her for it - for his delusions.
The ML is justified to hate - heck even kill - the dad. He’s justified to hate a ton of people in this story. But FL is 100% innocent. And while I sympathize with his trauma, I’m not about to use his trauma as justification for him driving an innocent person to multiple suicide attempts. He doesn’t deserve to be with her at all. He doesn’t deserve to be redeemed in his actions toward her. I think him working towards her forgiveness is ideal. But that still doesn’t mean FL should be shipped with an absurd. He essentially mentally tortured her for being born to the wrong family. He couldn’t figure out a way to work through his own trauma so he decided to traumatize an innocent person as a result.
Exactly. I don't excuse his actions but I understand him. Even to me as a reader her reaction and response felt entitled.
I understand that she might be sheltered and all but she knows what death is and she knows what friends are. So her smiling saying that and to his face bon the less was completely out of touch. And yes to me what he said in that moment was right. She reacted like it was expected. So if we hold him to those standards of he is old enough to know better then we should hold her to those as well.
At the end he was a literal child experiencing that amount of torture and trauma. What don't you ppl understand. A literal child. He had to do unspeakable things to survive. And we hate him for leaching out. Fair, she didn't necessarily physically hurt him. But also her being woefully ignorant and acting entitled is not taken into consideration at all. Like yea, it was her father's doing. OK, do you have no eyes and ears?
He was literally gonna be ok with even her acknowledgement. It was her reaction that had him snap.
Like the lady with the dead brother.
I know wr love to hate the guy but she is not blames either. What is happening to her is not right and she doesn't deserve it. But she can't just also get a pass either. His faults might be bigger but she isn't faultless either.
Sorry. Went on a tangent there.
But it's like ppl expect someone to just heal from such a horrible trauma as soon as they are out of the traumatic situation. Not realizing that that is the exact moment they are finally able to fully process the enterity of the traumatic experience.
I font hate him. I understand him and I don't excuse him.

Y’all just hate him for free but honestly if I had to kill my brothers and my sisters to protect my master and his daughter aka the girl I like AND I come to realize that the bitch has a waaay too close relationship to her father to be that ignorant of his shady business and she doesn’t really care about people dying for her ass I would have riot too. Like. Y’all are eat the rich until it’s in fiction, kept this energy too irl idk. Moreover the fact she understand she is a part of the problem after and she tries her best to redeem just show he was right to a certain point.
