Im pretty sure It was stated that he was sick, which explains why he couldn't meet her. As someone who is also ill, shouldn't she understand that feeling? Furthermore, her hatred for the male lead stems from her belief that he should have been honest with her. Since he avoided her, her resentment grew, reflecting her own actions. While it hasn’t been explicitly shown, he has his reasons for behaving the way he does.
I personally don’t like the female lead because she has no justification for her actions. From the beginning, she was aware or knew a little that the male lead considered himself a monster and struggled with self-hatred, yet she chose to exacerbate his feelings. Throughout their relationship, her husband has been nothing but kind to her, even sacrificing himself to save her. Instead of confronting the male lead with honesty, she created false narratives about him, causing him even more suffering.
Although the chapters focusing on the male lead are few, it’s clear that his self-hatred runs deep. When he first saw the main character, he fell in love with her, but imagine being loved by someone who hates you and feels disgusted by you for no reason. Additionally, if she had told her brother about her plans to marry the male lead, he likely wouldn’t have sought to start a war. It could have been that simple.
Her actions toward the male lead's suffering are a direct result of her choices. However, I also recognize that she’s ignorant and naive, relying solely on her family and knowing little about the world she was entering. She was alone in this marriage, navigating her first life and facing challenges for the first time. Still, that doesn’t excuse her behavior.
He wasn't sick tho. It was an excuse by the king.
What? After signing the marriage papers, he's suddenly okay? Suddenly he can get up and see her?
Would you be glad to marry someone who threatened war upon your country(in this case, kingdom) if u dont marry them? Possibly, killing thousands of innocent lives and your family?
I dont get it. The FL's feelings are valid.
Im not putting blame on the ML, as I've said.. it was the King's (ml's brother)fault.
He could also get up in the beginning of their meeting, just like she could. Being sick doesn’t mean being bedridden. We saw how sick he could get from that scene where he was smoking alone in his room. The deal is, you can’t see him until you sign. The emepror might be his brother, but he’s still the emperor. As far as his subjects are concerned, his word is law.
Also that’s how marriage alliances are done in those days and age. Going against the emperor’s word amounts to inciting a war. Being unhappy about the emperor’s decision making is one thing, but he’s not the one she was marrying. In fact, she thought she was about to marry the man she loved, then proceeded to treat him like trash because he followed his emperor/brother’s decision. Hierarchy is in place for a reason. Being mad for a while makes sense. But turning it around to create her own narrative in her head to call him an abomination and then treat him like he’s worse than filth for two years, you honesty think that shxt is fine?? Ain’t no way.
Equal rights should come with equal understanding. It’s frustrating how people always judge the male lead, even when he has valid reasons for his actions. Just because the female lead is the main character doesn’t automatically make her a good person. She has her own reasons and her feelings are valid, but people need to start holding her accountable and realize how harmful her actions were to the male lead. His pain deserves to be acknowledged and understood. Honestly, the people who defend the female lead are worse than those who defend Jinx or Joo Jaekyung like I swear

Idk why some are mad at the FL?
She was willing to accept the marriage, but wanted to see her soon-to-be husband first.
If he was so beautiful like the king had described him, the least he could do was set them to meet up before the marriage. Surely if he has THAT beautiful ,and kind and whatnot no one would refuse him.
I know the duke's not at fault tho. It was the fckin king's fault.
