I think that after the surgery of getting his anima removed, the fact that Cooro went to the place where he was born an anime, and getting wings again was because it was almost like a farewell. People thought he was a messenger of, and those wings that he received after removing them were to carry him to his mother in heaven. So it was guiding him towards his death: and then you see Fly falling down from the sky, so the wings that he took from Cooro rejected him the moment that Cooro decided for himself that he wants to stay with his friends which are his place to be, and finally his original wings accepted him once more being a part of who Cooro has been since he was born. So all in all, this really made me cry a river.
