Expressing ones opinion

artmagus March 21, 2017 8:19 pm

Literally everywehere I go nowadays on the Internet I see people putting down othe rpeople for expressing their opinions. And lets be honest it's the negative ones that always start the offensive tirade. In the first stages of talking with people online I was of the opinion that if someone doesn't like a manga for example I love then they should just fuck off. But I'm older now, more mature or confident one can say and also an adult. If someone is non-offensive in the way they say "I don't like this manga or that book" I'm not going to get offended. The main reason? I too want to say whether I like or dislike something without being called names or have other start yelling at me. I will drop a manga if I don't like it but then maybe I don't like elements of the manga. Nevertheless I do want to say that this didn't work out for me for so and so reasons...
So here it is guys. What do you think? Should someone say "I don't like this at the comments (always in a non -offensive way) or should people shut up?

Thing is, people have become so oversensitive about everything that stupid fight them back. Because, almost everything today has a fanbase that does not allow any other word about what they love, do not caring if you're being polite or not. For them we do not have any right to express ourselves if we're not saying pleasant things. Take a look at the followers of Justin Biever a few years ago. Those girls were crazy, literally. I saw a fight with blood and really hard punches over youngsters who were discussing whether a song was good or not. Like, wtf are you doing with your life girl.

Look, FMA is my overall favourite in the wrold. But I do not mind if someone says s/he did not like it (in fact I'll ask out of curiosity, trying to know why), bc everyone has their own tastes. And if they talk trash about I couldn't care less about their opinion when they're unnecesarily rude. Easy. I pass over the bad vibes.

I like seeing different opinions when searching for references, aka books, anime, manga, music, whatever. It enriches the things knowing different pov's, u know. I don't get why ppl are not more open.

"Hey happyhaters, this is not north korea where everyone loves the little fatty Kimmy and no one says otherwise :D Deal with it, there's people who thinks your fav things are not the best ü"

    yeah, messy grammar, sorreh xD

Unless it's spam there's no reason people need to shut up. It irks me when people say "if you don't like it don't read it" or "move along if you don't like it". Hardly anyone starts reading a manga they know they won't like. Even if they did they should be able to give their opinion why they don't like it in the comments. I'll admit, sometimes I've read things I knew I wouldn't like after the first chapter (out of curiosity or boredom). Although I disliked it I may still want to talk about it. Some make it seem like you have to love it or completely hate it and there's no option in between (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

Now if someone is saying insulting things about the mangaka, translators, fans or people who dislike the manga, I am fine if all hell breaks loose. Best to avoid those comments altogether.

Its just the extremist that are the problem from the both side they just want to fight nit healthy conversation .every body have right to express their opinion in a respectful way .you can see horrible comment from the both side.

I also think you should be able to say your opinion honestly, as long as you are not offensive. It's ok to not like sth, tasts are different, you can't force smd to like sth he/she doesn't and that's ok, otherwise the world would be pretty boring.
I also think it's pretty important to be honest if you give feedback to an artiist for example. You can't improve unless you know what you have to work on, pretty words alone don't help, just always give a reason why you don't like sth.

I actually have a mixed feeling about it now i will take an example here there are some people who have problem with rape trope and some who don't mind it much . Then the people who have problem with it sometimes will bash either mangaka for making stupid manga or the people who likes it like they are some weirdos for liking those manga then the people from the other side will snap and will say if you don't like it don't read it which i am not saying is right . Because both are extremist in this case . Then the people who actually get messed up in the situation are the people who wants to share their opinions and want to have a proper conversation with normal people because of those extremist who tries very hard to bash each other.

Personally I think the impact of fiction debates don't belong in the discussions because it's usually irrelevant to the actual manga. The debates never get anywhere and even if it starts civil, it always gets out of hand. However telling people to shut up just makes them upset, causing people to yell back, causing the arguments to drag on... It'd be better to let them get it off their chest instead of telling them to go away. It does suck for people who want to give opinions on the manga because negative opinions about the manga end up getting bashed with the rest. And positive opinions get drowned out by the surrounding arguments. You'd have to wait a few days for the extremists to leave but by then you don't feel like talking about it anymore.

IMO it's better to say it ^^ I know I often look at the comments before starting a new series if the summaries didn't hook me... Or even when I'm scrolling down the home page!
But if it's just to say, "it's shit", then it's useless... I mean just give it a 1 star, and it's enough. It's useful when you say why you didn't like it.
Another reason is that when someone tells why they didn't like tha manga others can try to convince them to continue ^^ Because some series have a bad start (shitty first volume, bad art and so on) and you sometimes need a lil' push so you don't miss a great story.

Unfortunately tho, because some people get angry at others because they state their opinions, I feel like in the comments section we always see the same kind of posts ("great", "love it", etc. Tell me WHY, dammit!!!)... Eh. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

exactly! I want to know why someone didn't like something because I may end up not liking it for the same reasons. At least I am prepared! So it gets really upsetting when you cannot talk about a topic you disagree with others. Healthy discussion people! That's all I ask....

True!I know for sure that if I get into "the discussion" all fire will turn on me and honestly I have enough problems in real life. I want to be able to discuss things with people with the same interests as I, interests that no one I know share.
