I was reading the novel enjoying myself until they reached the ship arc, I'm seriously disgusted with Karas killing innocent people while looking bored ,he really doesn't have any emotions inside him, I don't see why he deserves to rule and saved by Abel when he's no different than Kings heart, why why,I thought there was some good Abt him since he still acted innocently sometimes like 8 years old,I wish Abel wouldn't forgive him easily

He's not meant to be kind. People who inherited the dragon blood are born with a cruel heart. It was stated at the beginning of the story. The only ones that can calm their bloodthirst are the regas. And the dragon blood is particularly strong in Karas, that's why they got him a regas young. It's not something he can control. Only Abel can control that part of him. That is why regas are called dragon tamers. They basically control the King.

Cause he’s the mc. His trauma explains his behavior but it does not excuse it realistically. But I’m sure in this fictional medieval setting given how easily those in power have it in apathetically killing others (king’s heart council) it’s like just seen as par the course sadly. Obviously Karas isn’t actually a good person but it will be excused regardless by the setting and more importantly the novel’s readers if the author writes it to be so.

It's not because of his trauma. It's the curse of the dragon's blood. Every single person who inherits the dragon's blood is cruel and bloodthirsty. That's why they need a regas, to calm their dragon side.8

It can be both because literally look at Karas’s father he was violent but not bloodthirsty he was content to live in indulgence and decadence despite the dragon’s blood. Karas had the same blood but his trauma made him as he is today, angry at the world.

At the beginning of the story, it is stated that the dragon's blood is waning each generation. The King's heart is also drugging the kings. The drugs nullify their dragon blood. Also, karas dad have multiple regas. He was somewhat calm cause he was all drugged up and having sex with multiple regas. Also, Karas's dragon blood was so strong that the dragon madness manifested early on before they could even start drugging him.

But yeah, you're right, add trauma on top of that and its not wonder hes crazy.

It's fiction so I thought the author would atleast makes him behave in front Abel because he knows killing these people would hurt him but he wasn't planning to stop until Abel came up with all kind of excuses to stop him ,I tried to ignore him almost breaking Abel arm just cause he said he wouldn't touch him but him beheading people while he hears them begging him to let them go since they have families back home was too much to absorbe,I feel like Abel taught him too much useless things about forest and forget to teach him about morals or real human feelings, I wish the next scenes weren't some romance while we're still trying to makes sense of what happened before

Eh, Even if Abel taught him those things, it wouldnt stick. The only real way to calm the dragon madness is to have a physical relationship with a regas. So with Abel being gone, he'd turn out the same, regardless if Abel taught him morals. The next scenes wont really be about romance. Abel would be too busy tryna fight with the King's heart. And yes, you were right, Karas isnt really fit to be King. Hes a great commander and leader in war but he doesnt really seem to be the type to care about the people. But tbh, the dragon kings arent really the true ruler of the kingdom and they havent been since the beginning. Like the Dragon created the Kingdom for the knight he loves, and each Kings are heavily influenced by their regas. So being their moral compass who guides their every decision and tames their bloodlust, the actual ruler of the Kingdom would be the regas. Thats why whoever trains and controls the regas are the ones with actual power in the kingdom. Which is how the Kings heart are able to maintain their positions for so long.

Hmm I think reading about all these useless Regas in the Palace acting like gold digger and all involved either with Northox or the blonde Duke made me forget their actual roles ,and Abel looks mentally weak for now not like his old self he himself said so and he needs to get his shape back, so it will take time to see him take real actions with Kings heart,we will see

In the Novel, Abel is actually the only one who has a plan to take down he Kings heart. The only thing in Karas mind was to burn the whole place so he can run away with Abel. Abel left him so he can execute his plans, not knowing Karas is genuinely brainless. The rest of the novel was behind a paywall, but from what i read, Abel is actually quite perceptive and smart. He seems kind of like a dum dum but Abel is quite cunning. Hopefully he can get back in time before Karas actually burn the whole palace down.
