i think some actions (particularly what hes about to do next) should be held accountable by him and him alone. he has been a decent person while in school even with his mum being the same was he not? His obsession and refusal to accept rejection has been his own doing solely and what he thinks he’s owed for some deluded reason. We can only blame his mother to a certain extent
