trying to make sense of it

ok so what I've gathered is that she's mostly projecting her feelings of alienation onto mr kwon. she seems to have issues with how different she and her family are, and because of that she's envious and resentful towards others (her friends) who have better lives with their families. that's why she came back to her town to stop having those thoughts.

when she saw mr. kwon kissing ho, she probably thought that he would feel alienated since the townfolk that he's been with his entire life are probably more traditional. I also think that with ho having a child, she took it more harshly since, in her mind, they would be considered "different" as a family just like her own. it doesn't seem like she resents ho or dislikes him, she just cares about mr. kwon's life.

so basically while her past doesn't have anything to do with two dudes being in a relationship, I think she's talking about the feeling of being different and growing up in an unnatural family dynamic. I don't think she's homophobic because she was more concerned about how the townsfolk will react, and I think her not supporting it is mostly because of those feelings of envy she has since mr. kwon just doesn't care what others think while she cares a lot.

I'm not defending her, obviously her reasons are very childish and she's projecting her feelings onto them which is not right, though she just seems to be really sheltered and troubled. she just needs to fix her wrongdoings and apologize to them. she's still annoying af but I don't think she's as evil as y'all are saying lol.

it was certainly a weird ass backstory to give her since it doesn't seem really related to anything, but I think it'll tie in well cuz it brings up the issue that ho was having where he's unsure of what's going to happen. I like that it comes from someone who's not necessarily homophobic but someone whose issues stem from not having a "perfect family" which may be what ho is concerned about.

“she's mostly projecting her feelings of alienation onto mr kwon. she seems to have issues with how different she and her family are, and because of that she's envious and resentful towards others (her friends) who have better lives with their families.” This made me think …, Could it be that she’s also, subconsciously, jealous/envious of the baby and her two dads? She had straight, conventional, traditional parents but was/is still a neglected child and she feels unwanted, unloved, unseen. While the baby has two fathers, they’re happy together and they adore her. If the author weaves this into Mi-ok’s character arc then her bg story would make more sense
