That's exactly the point though. That's what the story is exploring. People think it's fine if the dad leaves but not the mom. People in real life have these exact thoughts. Calm down and just think about what the story is trying to convey.
What do you mean "it's understandable if the father moves way for work but not if it's the mother doing it" it's not ok for honesty but sometimes it's inevitable and I don't see why it's ok for one to do it but not the other （￣へ￣）
