I wonder if the reason that the king wants the marriage/spouse potion so he can have his brother see who his actual spouse will be. I can imagine that the prince is refusing to marry because he has the hots for the MC, and his brother, the king, is at wits end. Therefore the best way that he can think to get his brother to listen to him is to have the guy that the prince has an obsession on, present a potion that will prove that he (the MC) is not his future...anything! I can only see the karma in the whole thing. Anyhow, just meandering thoughts!
