In my opinion, not all stories need a happy ending. Yeah, I WAYYYY prefer happy endings (I literally filter out bad endings on ao3), but sad endings are not something I’m opposed to.
Sure, I’m upset that Aqua and Ruby didn’t get the happy ending I expected, but I still quite enjoyed what the last chapters were. I know a lot of people are upset because it feels half assed, but I thought it was alright.
I always kinda felt like Aqua was gonna die in the end. It was one of those things that I pushed to the back of my mind because it was “unrealistic”. It always just felt to me like he wasn’t gonna get his happy ending. Just something about the way everything was going felt to me like nothing good was gonna happen for Aqua.
Like I said though, I am upset that he didn’t get his happy ending, but at the same time I’m not mad at Aka for writing the ending the way it was.
Overall a 7.5. Better than average, but not the greatest ending I’ve read in a manga.
Pre warning, I’m literally just yapping.
