Little historical trivia : Shibari/Kinbaku doesn't exist before the start of XXth century. It was created as an erotic version of Hojojutsu, a way to restrain prisonner by using rope ( Ancient japanese ppl doesn't have that much metal, so they prefere use rope wich is more cheaper to create and easy to find. ). Shibari come to western world after the World War II and became more common during eighties/nineties. Also Hojojutsu is quite different from Shibari. It's more simpler and less enjoyable, as if it supposed to be used on prisoner and sometime on the battlefield.
Soooooo... Even if it's always fun to see some nice bondage scene ; actually it's quite historically inaccurate :). Even with the influence of the "japonism movement" in France at theses times, it's quite unlikely that Erik can have learned these technique and used it on a persian guy.
