That is a VERY good point. There's really nothing to indicate that there was anything other than totally natural affection and admiration in how Shirotani felt about his father - until Bitchface deliberately made it into something twisted, because of her own boatload of issues and twisted jealousy. She did cause his daddy issues.
(I think it's kind of amusing that it comes down to something that can be described with the phrase "daddy issues", but I don't think it's funny that he has them, just trying to clarify!)
...On another note, I love Nishigaki-san. I think he's lovely.
Can I just hurry say that Shirotani's babysitter is the one one who started this whole thing. Reasons: she was the one who kept constantly telling Shirotani that he was disgusting for having such a close relationship with his father. He NEVER had "daddy issues" before bitchface came in. The 10th thing on the list, refers to when his father used to pat Shirotani on the head as a sign of affection or reward (healthy relationship away) for doing something good. After bitchface started calling him, disgusting, childish, gross, did everytime Shirotani's dad touched him head, would he shrink away from his touch. His dad was only worried and wanted to figure out why his son was acting this way, when he NEVER did before (thx again bitchface babysitter). Also, I dont know why people are saying that the author is at fault. How in the world is he? He did not do anything. On the contrary, the authour was instrumental in bringing Kirose and Shirotani together. Without him, Kirose would have not spent his time trying to help people with mysophobia. He would have not met Shirotani, etc. Just my two cents.
