Exactlyyyyy I feel like this story has soo many loopholes I literally cried in the paper crane scene like they gave no explanation for kana's behavior it was heart wrenching to see naho's thoughts and insecurities turn soo negative like even the friends he did make were related to kana so in the end he really did not have a single true friend also sometimes I feel like kana's behavior is a lil narcissistic like he just cares about how he feels about naho even in his pov it was more about his sexual needs towards naho

I genuinely cried so much for Naho because of how badly he was treated. He was confident in himself and felt good about how he looked but then discovered that people considered him average at best. This is intensified by his crush and childhood friend agreeing that he’s average when for years he has said that Naho was cute. This naturally made Naho slowly look down on himself. When Naho mentioned how his name was cute and he liked it but then stopped himself because he usually said it suited him cause he’s cute, but now he doesn’t think he’s cute I wanted to cry so much! I don’t like Kana(ML) saying “objectively speaking you look average but I think your cute“ because at the time he was asked “do YOU think he’s cute?” It wasn’t about the standards or objectively it was about how he perceived Naho. If someone asks you if you think your crush is attractive or cute typically you say yes because it’s asking how you perceive them or see them. Even then if it was meant to be objectively speaking shouldn’t he have at least defended Naho a bit instead of letting his friends make fun of him? Lastly I think the only reason Naho is so unaware and socially awkward is because Kana isolated him. We get to see a few panels of how negatively Kana reacts to Naho making friends or being social with others. How is he going to become self aware when he is isolated and only has his parents and Kana to rely on? Because if this when Kana begins pulling away at the beginning it leaves Naho all alone making him only think about how un-cute he is and how dumb he was for thinking he was cute. We never got a clear explanation for Kana’s behavior at the time which makes his apology seem less sincere… ESPECIALLY when just before apologizing he makes a bigger misunderstanding saying “I do love Aoi” while forcing himself onto Naho.
