Is the omegaverse a good growing theme or a bad trope?

My first omegaverse story was "Sayonara Koibito, Mata Kite Tomodachi" and while i liked it, i enjoyed it in a "psychological horror" sort of way, not in the "its so sexy! Kyaa" sort of way. So far ive read 2 or 3 on accident and because of the world and how terribly they end up treating omegas I just cant stomach it anymore.

Sometimes ill find a manga with a nice are style and when it turns out to be omegaverse i drop it. I know they can have varying quality, but seeing something so dark appear everywhere almost feels lazy, like they dont care much about the character's world and it seems like its just an allaborate situation to force them into the uke/seme slots. I know it just sounds like im complaining, but i really want to know why other people are so into it.

Everyone has different experiences. For example, these's this omegaverse manga Sukijanaitte Hyakkai Tonaeta. The art isn't good and I'm still surprised that I decided to read a manga like that. I find the story alone a bit disgusting, but the ending was sweet. I didn't really like the characters and their interractions, and the art was all over the place so even the smut wasn't that good, of course that's only my opinion. But I still enjoyed it from the psychological view of point.
I agree, in omegaverse, it's really like forcing them into uke/seme positions, and that's why, even though I enjoy reading omegaverse, I'm picking only the ones that look really good.
Don't be fooled, omegaverse is popular mainly because of the interraction between alpha and omega - the mating, biting, having heat, maybe having children and coping with problems.
Every person prefers a different story. I for example wouldn't read Tadaima Okaeri, because it's too sweet.
Omegaverse is something new. There were vampires, there were werevolves, now there's this. After this, a new kind of story will take its place.
Please note this is only my opinion (and I'm not really sure if I answered your question at all lol).

Hmmm, I can only agree with you. The "Omegaverse thing" is an exciting univers in itself, but I don't like at all how the autors use it. It's so.. extreme. Even so, I have a few really sweet stories that I like, but it's rare. Try maybe "Sayonara Alpha" (no rape or child abuse don't worry ;) )

I didn't really like omegaverse myself but I really got into it after "Tadaima, Okaeri" I definitely recommend it! The story is sweet, the Alpha is actually really caring and loving to his omega and the omega isn't treated like garbage. It's definitely a must read and might put omegaverse back in a positive light for you, I know it did for me ^-^
