To be completely honest with you I've always read Naruto as a shounen ai... Until Kishi chickened out and made it become NaruHina SasaSaku. And I still don't understand why they got together. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ I say chicken because he could just have left them single instead of forcing a pairing.
And no, I certainly did not feel any love from Naruto towards Hinata, even in the movie... And well, Sasuke has shown nothing towards Sakura either. Heck, SasuKarin would have been more believable! (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Same!! I see Naruto and Sasuke as an independent character to be honest, just like Kakashi. I love every individual characters as they are (without wifes/husbands) I was actually hoping for an ending where they all got together, watch fireworks and drink sake as close friends. I believe that would have been a better ending for me, that is, but I respect everyone's opinion on this matter (as in Naruto in general) (⌒▽⌒)
I was rooting for NaruHina because Hinata is the ultimate ride or die but NaruSasu was a close second.

nah, he always intended the main characters to end up hooked up and happy every after. he mentioned that in his interview. the only problem he has is that because it's a shounen manga with a very much action-focused plot, he find it hard and awkward to put in romance snippets since it's not in his forte.
sorry if you did not see it but yes, even in the beginning, the intention of the pairing is already there. me and my siblings use to quarrel about the team 7 love triangle.
but personally, prefer Naruto as seme. my favourite pairs are narusasu / narusaku / kakasasu and narusasusaku OT3.
