I think maybe it was to show that Kiyoshi would wait respecting Sumi, even if she changed her mind later on, he wouldn’t try to coax her to marry him or maintain a relationship with him or whatever

What significance does it have to the story for her to be a highschool student? It's giving weird purity culture around younger girls who happen to be virgins. Ml didn't know but why tf would the author want to write this story? This could've been an adult drama about a college student navigating establishing a career for herself while considering the idea of marrying and falling in love while fully breaking into the "adult" world without making her a teenager. This just didn't have to be weird lol, very disappointing
