Fudanshi*
I'm a fudanshi (also fuyuri), surprinsingly, I'm straight. Why I read them? Well, simple, curiosity. In real life I feel nothing when I see gay couples, but it's a whole new story when I see it in mangas.
It's just that yaoi and yuri pass another feels when I read. different feels from other straights couples in anime or manga. Well, that's me. I don't know abouts other fudanshis cases. Well, see ya. :)
also, I never really taken interest in men, I even questioned myself, but in the end I was just attracted to women :P
You might be bi-curious, then! I like reading yuri too, but I'm not that interested in RL girls, so I get what you mean.
i don't 100% remember how i got into yaoi but it was middle school and i remember the first explicit thing i read/saw was the doujin bl game bound prince... after that i was reading it non-stop on the family computer hoping no one would walk in the kitchen lmao
i read yaoi mostly for the gay content since i'm gay. shoujo or josei usually don't do anything for me and are mostly annoying with plotlines (but also a lot of the time the yaoi stories just piss me off as well hahah)
