charles did have something with (my child & favorite character) jean de chartois. i honestly couldn’t put a word to it though, it went beyond something as simple as romance. they had a deep and mutual understanding of one another. there is a kiss scene between them but that’s as far as they were able to express themselves and what they had. charles ultimately had relations with women after that, i only left off on ch 91 so i’m not sure if he ended up with the woman involved, though i swear i remember him getting with her but idk. i have yet to read the sequel too :,)
but that’s just my interpretation! others may view it as platonic, as seen in the comments but that’s just how i felt personally.
