Fear not, (spoilers beware) they are very much receiving their happily ever after. Look more closely, they are cohabitating in the house that Ellie and his wife lived in. It is secluded so it is the safest place for Eric to be (and they can also do whatever weird stuff they want without worrying about peeping toms)! It's a win-win.
Okay yeah great, but why did Shell have to kill him? Honestly, what the fuck? This story is great, but;; What a shitty ending. I'll just re-wire my brain to believe that this never happened and Shell and Eric lively happily together in a beautiful house, surrounded by white roses.
