Just went back and checked. Quite right the seme never said anything about a girlfriend, that was assumed by the uke. But to be fair it is because the seme lies about being at work to whoever is calling (the "her"), after which he says he's going home. I think most people in the uke's position would assume that there would be no reason not just to say that they were with someone (without getting into the details about how) unless it was a girlfriend. Therefore the lie about being at work. I mean if it was his mother calling for example, who wanted to know where he was, he could have just said he was with a friend from work, and it would have the virtue of even being true.
So whether or not the seme thinks (correctly or not) that uke just thinks of him as sex friend, doesn't really explain the lie. I mean that only make sense IF you assume that they would have been openly admitting their relationship at an early stage even if they were still seriously trying the relationship out. Somehow I don't see that happening. They MIGHT be the types to be open about once they're seriously committed, but not before. Which brings us back to why the lie and to whom?

You wrote an awful lot, making up a whole possible backstory for the seme, but still didn't answer my question; If it was his mother calling why not just say he was hanging out a friends place? They could be watching a movie or something, and possibly with other friends. How would anyone know what he was up to. So why lie about being at work? The only person you normally tell that sort of lie to because they might want to know which friend, is a girlfriend. To anyone else it actually doesn't matter, and he can even be truthful, as long as people don't suspect what's actually going on between them and just think them friends who hang out after work.

If the seme behaves that way because he feels no need to explain himself as he doesn't consider himself emotionally attached to the uke, then everything you wrote is nonsense. If you care for someone, whether you're officially going out or not, you care if they get the wrong idea or not. So yeah, you explain.

I think Lily was arguing that the seme cared for the uke and considered their relationship more than that. That it was UKE who was the one keeping them as sex-friends and nothing more. My point was if you argue that he doesn't feel a need to explain himself because he only thinks of them as sex-friends, then you can't also argue at the same time that he also thinks of the relationship as more. Either he cares what the uke thinks is going on or he doesn't because he doesn't, as you say feel any need to explain, even if the uke should get the wrong impression. In short, either he cares or he doesn't.
