READ PLEASE I NEED HELP

I watched it I didn’t read it, and I’m currently on episode 12 of the anime. Is it just me or do people keep getting Tomo out of the loop? They hide so much from her, and instead of being straightforward they do things that hurt her instead. I think they take advantage of her security, trust, and friendship way too much. Or maybe I’m overthinking?

It’s just that there were so many instances the other characters had where they hurt her. Like when Carol literally straddled Jun, and kissed him on the cheek. Or when Jun avoided Tomo for a whole-ass year. Or when Misuzu decided to avoid her as well instead of telling Tomo what she’s feeling. Tomo, for me, is such a genuinely kind character, but as shown throughout the anime she’s also insecure about her femininity and how she’s viewed by others. The way they act towards her, knowing full-well that she’s insecure, make me so mad on her behalf.

I know that’s it’s just an anime, that I shouldn’t take it seriously, but I feel so bad for my girl like

Okay but to be completely fair this is how kid. Like yes, they’re being messy but also who isn’t messy at 15-16 years old when you’re trying to navigate emotions complex enough that many adults don’t know how to deal with them. Also Tomo has avoided all the characters here too when she’s too embarassed to face them

I feel like this is a bit of tangent but mentioning Carol straddling and kissing Jun as sth that hurt Tomo seems... a little weird to me. It's true, but also Carol HARRASSED (not like screaming, but do notice the emphases) Jun. I'm not sure you intended it that way, but the more important thing about this incident imo is not Carol betraying Tomo as a friend, but Carol acting like a trash person. If my friend harrassed my crush, I wouldn't be like "how could you do this to me? pwq" I'd be like "how could you do this?!?" PERIOD (again. Not screaming. But notice the emphasis). Kinda fucked up what happened there ngl, and the way it wasn't taken seriously by anyone too. Sure Jun is physically stronger and could've punted her off but if you hurt someone, them being physically capable doesn't make it an ok thing to do or means it has less of an impact.

That said, I think everyone made mistakes in this story. Tomo, I'd agree with you, was the kindest in general. (Though here I'd like to say that the dynamic of her hitting Jun on the regular for all kinds of reasons is the type of humour that for me is a bit funny but also concerning and thinking about it more, rather questionable.)
About Tomo's friend dynamics, I'd like to say this: I'm not sure if this is correct, but I feel like Tomo is not particularly helpful or harmful in her actions as a friend in this story (she's the kind that gives happiness just coexisting lol), while Misuzu and Carol have high help but also harm values. They help Tomo dress up, angle for her to spend more alone time with Jun, and help her study. Misuzu protects Tomo in ways her physical strength would have a hard time accomplishing (like threatening people who pick a fight with her by mentioning the dojo). But then there's also the other less wholesome stuff xD
    As for Jun
