He will regret it because he’ll eventually break the spell that’s blocking his emotions over a specific incident that reveals that she really is his daughter.
He regrets it a ton but Jayna feels so indifferent to their relationship that he just feels even worse. It eventually improves like a ton toward the end and there are heartfelt moments when the bigger conflicts happen in the story. But it was not an immediate forgiveness thing to my understanding, took a lot of time.
