I feel bad for her and her mom. The mother clearly didn't give Chiyoko information (that was wrong) and Chiyoko felt like the mother was always turning her back to her (distancing), so she distanced herself, too. Everyone distanced. All because the father screwed up, he made people he should have loved and protected miserable. So sad.

But I think it was wrong of the mother not to have tried harder to connect with CHiyoko and explain about the shop. No excuse for all these damn secrets.
