And the fact that he himself said something like "let's give them a happy ending" makes me even more convinced that what we we are to read as the series ending is not other than the one he wrote as that story's happy ending. We don't even know how are we supposed to get there from the freezing in the snow scene!
It's just too perfect to be true. Tho the kids age is kind of confusing
