Don't be too hard on yourself. I've read over 2000 Yaoi manga and even I found the simplicity of parts of this manga confusing. However, it occurs most in the beginning of the story and it correlates with the confusion the Prince and Suzuki would have felt trying to communicate with each other. So, based on the second story's ease of understanding, I think that the confusion was intentional. It puts the reader in the same mindset as the characters themselves. As the story progresses and their communication improves, so does the readers ability to grasp what is happening.
The art is nice in this manga, neat and pretty. It was just abit hard to follow the story/understand at times, idk maybe its just my stupid brain. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
