Low-key…I’m feeling pissed off but I don’t know why.

This left me very unsatisfied. the set-up was good, but everything fell flat. I feel like if they had more commoner women characters, they could’ve have explored a lot themes, like how nobility affects relationships, gender and power something like that. It would also add to the world building too.

She can’t be the only poor class woman who’s lost a parent. What about the rest of the women in this country? How are they surviving? Why are most of the characters noble men, women when it’s a story about a poor cross dressing woman trying to find her place in society?????

Phew…sorry had to get that off my chest. Although no one might read this, just putting it out there.

If you haven't known yet, it's already stated in the title, "Chronicles of Kira". The story is focused in order of Kira's life events -smh. That's why it didn't focus on others╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I think I liked this story a lot more than you haha but I really agree with your point! The ending feels as idealistic as the dream that the seventeen year old Mufi had. They want a world where everyone can live as equals, at peace with each other? Yet the heroic Sir Ildeghan left the House of Bashaq as a man… Kira’s achievements were not known to be hers, a woman’s. It feels a little like The Spark in Your Eyes / Blinded by the Setting Sun, where hiding the truth does benefit our MC, but gives the reader an ending that is entirely unsatisfying.

The story would’ve benefitted from explorations of gender and class. The episode where she visited the slave market, a common trope within historical manhwa, was subverted by her clear aversion to the purchase of another human. Kohen becoming a comrade trusted with her secret could have been developed more intimately too. I had high hopes but since this was axed, a lot of the story was rushed. Still, I enjoyed this so much, and your review made me think a lot about the directions of this story in another lifetime
