I agree with kwysis. Not into 3D people.
For me I don't watch any kind of series so I also don't watch BL series. It really depends on the person, some people only watch series and won't read the comics vise versa. Well I do like to watch BL anime series but not real life action.
It really really depends on the person, like some people will be "grossed out" by same gender gays but would love to see opposite gender gays in action something like that I guess.
And some people are just tusndere well idk.
On the contrary to the other who commented I love yaoi manga n bl series u just gotta find good ones but it depends on you cause I am a sucker for yaoi manga anime n bl drama like right now I am correctly watching like 3 of them that r coming out 1 episode per week n is killing me, I recommend to wait until all of them r out cause when the episode finish u will be mad wanting to know what happen next just like any other showed u r into(▰˘◡˘▰)
I used to be like that but I've happened to find very few that fit the yaoi looks (cuter uke, manlier seme). Mostly chinese cause they usually have more of a budget and go all the way with makeup and wordrobe although a lot are or being banned u-u. There has been a few japanese but like some of the others said, the looks have to be specific or else the yaoi feel is lost. My favorite was Uncontrolled Love and Round Trip To Love cause the boys were MMMMGHH perf.
Good question!
Yeah, let it be noted though that brokeback mountain had a major budget while a lot of BL series/movies rely on a SUPER limited budget and likely don't have a lot of backing since asia is just more stand offish when it comes to homosexuality. There's a few movies from china that have gotten more of a budget with product placement but often times end up banned or forced to have a sad ending by the governemnt.
Good point, the budget.... There are like 1000 american " romance" movies, 99% of them are straight. Idk maybe because I'm not american there are lots?
Anyway also it's not logical to create for example any movie with plot other than romance and the 2 main charachter are gay, it wont sell... For example "From Paris with Love"
can we have an action movie where the 2 mains end up together and they're men? does that even exist?
Also, Brokeback Mountain was an award-winning bestseller by one of the American super-writers, Annie Proulx, who wasn't trying to write a gay love story, but a bitter and hard-bitten look at cowboy life in rural Wyoming, parts of which are still similar to how they were in the 1880s, and its effect on the human spirit of those who deviate from social norms.
You may off just gone to another argument. I'm not saying there's a shit ton of amazing gay movies with a huge budget, I'm just saying America has less of a stigma towards gay relationships than Asia (by less I don't mean none at all, yes there is still a stigma) and the budget I would say is a fair argument since with Brokeback Mountain they could afford respectable actors like Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger while BL movies will likely have a limited selection to work with and yea, may end up with shitty acting. As far as the gay character in movies other than romance, not sure how you ended up there.
Well... My point is other than this one movie, I haven't seen one movie where the actors are good, story is good and non tragic ending (brokeback mountain had a tragic ending but the good story made up for it)
I tried to look for a good movie, where I can have " character development, story development and good acting.. I hadn't found 1 move with gay mains that fulfill this for me, so it's normal we are interested in BL Yaoi/novels instead....
Good point, I meant a normal action/drama/psychological/w/e movie but the main characters are gay with side line romance between them. Idk, if I can get my point through. Anyway I was just pointing it's not like Yaoi readers dislike real gay couples like the author of this topic said above. I'd like to read/watch real gay relationship in movies/books
Some of the period dramas out of Britain were pretty good. 'Maurice' with Hugh Grant, 'Brideshead Revisited' with a very young Jeremy Irons, even 'The Imitation Game' with Benedict Cumberbatch. Most of these shows feature actors whose physical appearance and charisma are attractive to yaoi fans. Even so, the shows aren't the westernized version of yaoi, not even when it is the homosexuality of the men that is the underlying theme of the story. They aren't love stories so much as section of history stories. Not a stitch of sexual congress to be admired.
Hey...~ Well, I was curious about this: Do you watch BL series? Or you guys just read yaoi comics, manhwa, manga? Because I've known persons that only like reading yaoi, don't like to watch real gays relationships... Why do you think is this?
