yes, he's very much dead. in the last chapter u could see the grandma's story about how sangwoo was desperately calling out bum's name very loudly, irritated by his yelping, she shut him up by entering his hospital room illegaly and choking him with a pillow which ended up killing him. this was also the time where bumwoo couldve visited him but he was too much of a pussy to borrow money from his classmate's girlfriend. 2 days later he ended up dying because of lung complications from being choked to death by that grandma. what bumwoo sees in the ending are the side effects of stockholm syndrome and immense deliriousness, causing him to see illusions of sangwoo alive but with a random woman, as he happily walks down the crossroad. this causes him to go insane, and without realizing, he ends up crossing the road at a red light just as a car was driving by. in the end, both sangwoo and bumwoo died.
