Absolutely possible, though sometimes it's something like the animal spit rather than the fur itself. For me it's cats and horses, being too close to them makes my eyes itch and nose runny. Zero problems with dogs though, funnly enough.
The first thing I thought was like, how come he have just rabbit allergy? That don't makes sense, I have allergies so I know how terrible it is to not be able to hug cute animals (I still had many tho)
