I never understand how no one wakes up in those types of situations

I think in this case, maybe since she had a cold she had the type of medicine that makes you sleepy, so she might’ve been in deep sleep. A cold can make you reallly tired especially after they were doing some heavy exercise just before she fell asleep. At least that’s my theory
