i think it’s bc eui-joon offered him comfort. hyeon grew up without a mother it seems, and with a father that hated him. time and time again, he mentions how he doesn’t have friends and the author also said that in the authors note. all of that taken into consideration, besides gunwoo who’d offered him solace and a familial bond at a distance, eui-joon was the only person who’d shown hyeon sympathy and kindness from a pure place. seeing as how he hadn’t received it before, i think hyeon’s initial instinct was to act romantically bc he’d never received that kind of selfless affection from family or friends so he didn’t know about it or how to act and he’d just gotten confused. he never shows or acts on any romantic feelings other than that one chapter, so it’s quite obvious he doesn’t have a crush or any romantic feelings for eui-joon, so hyeon was probably just confused
