I think the author seriously messed up putting the main character in PRISON and the main love interest OUTSIDE PRISON. Like significantly more screen time is spent with the side love interest of fucking course they’re a more compelling couple. Lawyer guy doesn’t really have anything going for him that makes readers want to root for him
