Ok so wait they're not stepbrothers but adoptive brothers, again not sure if that makes anything any better lmao (the Japanese term I mentioned above simply means non-blood-related brothers so it could be a lot of things)
Not sure if it's of any consolation but they're stepbrothers (義兄弟) and not blood related brothers
