Missing some stuff from the novel

Tbh I think reading the novel is way better as it gives better explanations and clarity. When I read the recent chapters it definitely felt like there was something missing compared to the novel especially since the translation is not up to par. Although the art is stunning I just think it skipped over some parts to which makes the pacing a bit harder to follow.

Honestly I like to think of the comics based on novels as bait to read the novels... much like with movies and books. It's unrealistic to expect the comic to have all the details and scenes of the novel... and I think that's a good thing because it redirects comic readers to the novel. It's good to have a clearer image of the characters and places.. but the novel/book will always be superior...

I 100% agree, though I definitely can't help but feel disappointed. I think it's just the fact that other manhwas were able to bring out the plot such as ORV.

True.. I had trouble understanding the scenario where there was a ton of historical references in the webnovel but the manhwa made it easier to understand. I think ORV novel itself is presented in a 'to the point' manner so manhwa is easily adaptable. However, in Totcf's case the novel contains a lot of small details which isn't easy to adapt in a manhwa imo.

I think of manga adaptations as both losing and gaining details. It won't show as much what the characters are thinking, but it adds so much world building when you can see the fashions and architecture of the world; and facial expressions and appearance of characters adds to that too. My favorite is to read both formats because I gain so much story depth compared to only reading one or the other.
