I've seen SO many comments now bashing on JJ and how he's heartless or an asshole and I'm just really confused??
Sure JJ and Leo started out mutually for like the first year but Leo became a straight up ASSHOLE trash boyfriend for 4 y e a r s and JJ had to constantly clean up after him while being treated like shit - was literally said that every time Leo created a mess everyone would call JJ to clean/fix it. For 4 years he did that, all while Leo just never seemed to care about JJ and became complacent. Yes, JJ could've talked to Leo about his issues but Leo wasn't showing any signs of actually listening and comprehending what JJ was saying when he did talk about stuff so would Leo have changed? Most likely not. Leo also could've noticed how HE HIMSELF was treating his fucking boyfriend. And once JJ was fed up with it, he did the right thing for himself and BROKE UP WITH HIM and tried to distance himself.
Y'all are acting like Leo didn't treat JJ that way for years and when JJ does it back to distance himself he's an asshole and heartless?? Come on, smell your own hypocrisy please.
Now, was what JJ did in the garage cruel? Yes. Does that warrant all the hate? No. Leo literally came to JJ to talk and what was the first thing he said? "Let's be fuck buddies." I'm so sick of seeing people defend someone who acts like a victim when they can't own up to or recognize their actions. Granted, it's probably because Leo's been spoiled by everyone around him but JJ did NOT have to forgive or give a second chance to him. But I understand the soft spot he has for Leo.
I'm probably biased because I'm an introvert like JJ and I understand being treated like shit for so long after loving and doing everything for someone for years, but I also like the character development from both of them. JJ does start actually talking to Leo about how he feels and etc. and Leo does recognize he was shitty and attempts to correct his behavior as well as at least some what apologizes to JJ for it but it still didn't feel like he was fully listening to what JJ was saying he wanted towards the end of the story (as in Leo was doing what he wanted and JJ going along with it--minus his feelings or what he wanted). But it was at least better than what it was and he recognizes to take JJ into account now. Still need to work on communication but glad they're going to couples therapy!!
Y'all are acting like shit doesn't happen in real life. It's easy not to get it/understand when you've never dealt with it or had empathy for someone who's going through something like this. I'll just say if it was reversed y'all would be CHEERING on Leo for "finally" leaving JJ.
If you read this far, congrats on reading this long fucking rant. But all that to say, it's a good short story and they're both so cute. (⌒▽⌒)
I’m so glad I’m not the only one thinking this. I don’t get it why people hating on J.J when he’s the one that always been put up with Leo’s behavior. And not to mention I’m also an introvert so I very much understand J.J
