it doesnt. their relationship dont progress emotionally at all. i tough it up until the last book but cant even finish that one bc its the same shit same dynamic. i just pity the mc lol ilay's one redeeming quality is that he's hot. but hes not even the devoted type, hes just obsessed with having sex with taeui
oh yeah zhenya was insanely black flag that i had a rough time getting thru those scenes but he became kind of a deranged loser near the end especially in the sequel that its funny lmao they became such freak4freak in bed too and taekjoo from the start isnt as soft hearted as taeui is so ig the balance isnt as apparent like it was in passion.
oh yeah they found the brother, if you dont mind some major spoilers!!!! the brother isnt interesting. hes your gary stu chara that has no flaw or any defining personality other than being lucky as hell, a bonafide genius and there's a rich brown dude obsessed with him. anyways constant rape aside, for me the main problem of passion is the characters being stagnant, taeui still can't catch a break and is an ultimate pushover, the uncle still manipulated him to do his bidding and receive no consequence, ilay treated him like a precious sex toy, he doesnt outwardly favor him all that much and only content for taeui to be there with him physically (oh they had some chapters about confessing their growing affections and how taeui is the only one ever that makes illay feel this way and they were cute but next chapters ahead he will casually sexually assaulted taeui in front of his friend, look on in mock amusement when someone verbally abused taeui with homophobic language, even when illay got mad that taeui got manipulated by his uncle he doesn't take it on his uncle and added more problem in taeui's plate instead lol, its like he doesn't care for him emotionally which hey textbook psychopath correctly written i suppose) also pray that they dont adapt the second book because the ml of second pair is the most disgusting post he makes ilay look like an angel
I didn’t read sequel (?) novel to CodeAna but it still was much more interesting than Passion And yes ofc both MLs are awful pieces of trash, but at least Zhenya tried and changed in some way. Also Taekjoo is much more interesting MC with actual personality, which I can’t say about Tay (he is just boring… I pity him yeah but… everything in Passion is so boring.)
I think that’s my problem - it’s boring and I feel like it’s going nowhere. We gets assault after assault and plot going nowhere, nor their relationship. Characters are flat and I don’t even remember them. (Expect like EVERY men is treating Tay as shit)
Also wdym… second book… how many of these shit was made (I only know about that psycho that was obsessed over Tay got novel. Forgot his name tho)
the sequel is called nameless star i don't generally like the amnesia route but its kinda fun seeing zhenya bad deeds came back to bite him in the ass ngl.
yeah taeui is just painfully a pushover , he said over and over again his brother is the luckiest person on earth that if meteor hits he wouldnt get a nick of his skin hurt but taeui still easily got coerced into ridiculous scheme to protect his brother who needs no protecting and got himself into banged up state every time, for what poor dude tho there was a scene of him dreaming about having an attentive partner who would always take his side but illay is so far removed from that (and then the narration continues to some side characters telling him illay usually kills people for the sport of it so the fact that taeui is alive around him actually means taeui is very special for illay, peak romance from the author!)
iirc the novels have 5 books, they were written in the early 2000s so the tropes are.. the way they are yeah.
i think i filtered out most of it because of how much second pair enrages me. basically richard is some kinda land lord single father and christopher is this dainty pretty prince type who had ptsd and sometimes attack people bcs of it. they're presented as enemies in heirs or smt. chris is clearly mentally ill and childlike in behavior so to subdue him, ilay persuade richard to r*pe him to make his mind broken. and richard relish in doing so, hes r*ping someone whos not in the right mind and doesnt even know what s*x is and how it frightens him, i skipped every chapter that has them and there are a lot of these instances and they become officials in the end bcs fawkass pe*o richard became obsessed. its the worst bl on the world. and for ilay/taeui it should be timeskip for about 2 years since passion but ilay still has no respect for taeui, he caught taeui eavesdropping on him and richard and in some attempt to punish him first so richard dont get to him he ripped taeui's pants and sexually assaulted him right there and then. taeui was so humiliated but he forgave the bastard who gave him no apology no nothing. i just think the author has warped idea of how male interests should be.
i'd like to thank people like you a lot for spending your time reading this dumpster fire so that i dont have too. lowkey pmo when authors (who tend to be women) write this kinda BS like why are you justifying abuse and promoting the "i can change him" mindset. idk if they lowkey hate men or just pure boy crazy... what pmo the most is a lot of readers nowadays don't have any media literacy and will take anything as face value without any critical thinking skills...
SPOILER: My opnion might wary than others, but I do think its worth sticking around. Tay and Ilay are very independent of each other in the sense Ilay let's Tay do almost anything he wants without interference as long as he doesn't leave him or let himself get too hurt. He goes crazy when he doesn't know where Tay is, who made the ultimately the right decision for himself and Xinlu but selecting Ilay. They never sleep with anyone else and are extremely devoted to eachother. They promise if one dies the other will ultimately follow the other. The books have tender moments that made giggle and tough one too and although They never become 'ilububabes' type, you can clearly see They can do anything to be with each other. The last book is Holypassion which only has paperback version. Tay gets kidnapped and almost on death door. Ilay after saving him and crying for him? Gifts him the heads of his kidnappers and hunts them down one by one over six months, no one after that has balls to touch Tay. So each to their own. I love PASSION, I do think it's acquired taste everyone around Tay feels pity for him, but know he's the one with Ilay leash (if he has one its only for Tay, he send over gifts for Tay wherever he's out and for no one else), i think they are a lot of moments although he never says I love you, Tay doesn't need it as he can see it in his actions. I hope it changes ur opinion, there are 4 books about them they despite everyone's expectations have been together for years.
Excuse me what !? I might understand about zhenya since he changed but caesar !??? Caesar never changed there's a difference between obsession and loving someone and caesar never had any redemption arc I started hating him after he shot leewon and why the heck are u comparing the 3 when they are totally different from each other read the passion novel you will see how much illay changes he even cried for Taeui and to tell u more taeui and Taekjoo chose to be with their partners but leewon basically have Stockholm syndrome and caesar forces him so that he can't leave I can't agree with u out of all 3 of them I hate caesar and I can't never come to love him
It may be crazy but I have better things to do than read rape novels (and according to previous responses Ilay)
I never said I liked Caesar. I hate them all, but I love Taekjoo and Leewon (hence why I read it). They all awful and trash people I agree, but in Passion ALL THE SEX SCENES ARE RAPE. It’s constant rape. I can’t even look at Tay anymore bc he just makes me depressed. Also there is no plot here, expect every men being obsessed over Tay.
I mentioned these 3 bc how people often put them together as the black flag trio.
I honestly only read Roses and Champagne main story from manhwa (skipped side stories) so I can’t really judge. But overall they all awful.
OMG thank you to everyone who participated in this thread. Now I know why I've never been comfortable with this manhwa. I always saw the sex scenes as rape and didn't ever see any character development. Holy shit. I stayed as I invested time and I appreciate their looks but that's about it. Looking back on my previous comments, it's always me sick of Ilay's shit

Does this shit get any better bc I swear Ilay is worse than both Zhenya and Caesar combined expect his look he literally doesn’t have one likeable trait.
