What a square and prejudiced fucker this four-eyed guy is. If this were between man and woman that douche will be called a sexist.

Hm, yeah. Over-politeness can also be as uncomfortable as when a guy keeps giving a woman unwelcome, expensive gifts: it can also make it look like the guy is over-eager to get laid... and that he thinks that doing that with a woman will help him get laid... (which is also sexist). They could always ask if it's okay or not: politeness is also partly consensual.

For the second POV: Yes! Yes, I would say so if he had discussed it on a neutral base and put it as simple criticism. That would be absolutely ok. Like you said such things can put pressure on a person and make them feel unconfortable. But the glasses boy said it in a way that is not acceptable. More manly, more status blabla … He looked down on him. THAT was what made me tick. And in the whole picture I think COMMUNICATION is the key! The other guy from the blind date could have said something from the beginning. Maybe in a charming joking way!? But NO … ehm well, but without this we wont have a plot so … let’s enjoy the ride. ;-)

It seems to be an entertaining story and I’m curious how the characters will develop with the ongoing plot.

    Exactly. I totally agree.
The mc's date could have said something. And that four-eyes got it completely wrong. Because what kind of polite gestures you're comfortable with, is nowadays a question of very personal taste... (I think), and no longer a question of gender. People keep mixing those up, without realizing how many things have changed.
For example, I keep remembering an article from a male reporter, who was so pissed because some woman on the street had randomly accused him of being sexist, just because he'd opened the door for her just as he was coming out of a shop and she was coming in... (≧∀≦)
But it's just like you said, let's sit down and enjoy the ride! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

Ah, I think I know this sort, the self-proclaimed „feminists“!? Only by name ‘cause they don’t understand what it means being one. That it’s not just about women rights but 50/50 rights and also duties for BOTH gender – being equal. Nothing wrong with that to hold a door open. Neither to do it for a woman nor for a guy. It's just common courtesy IMO. Funny thing exactly that happened to my friend some time ago. Tsk. She was totally hysteric about it and insulted him like crazy, called him rude etc. – also i.a. being a sexist. But the girl had a nice chit-chat with me after that. ;-)

It’s just a natural thing to do in a friendship, isn’t it. To care and stand up for each other. But thanks! :-)
