everyone just in a horrible mental state, the season 1 ending connects to the first episode (amazing dialogue chapter btw). The season 2 is about the couples’ codependency starting from high school. in s2 the audience can realize that both parties were treated horribly and you can sympathize with the two, bc what they went through together is honestly so heartbreaking.
